History is the study of the development of ideas and events that shape the growth of people and institutions.
History majors are prepared for careers in business or government, and for graduate study in history or law. Social Studies Education majors are prepared to teach social studies, including history, in both middle and high schools.

Buffalo State’s history program ensures both knowledge and an understanding of the foundations of the development of humankind, and social studies weaves history, government, world geography, and civics to help students become more well-rounded and globally engaged citizens.

Orosz Speaks in Jerusalem on British Mandate in Palestine
Ken Orosz, professor of history, recently traveled to Jerusalem at the invitation of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities to take part in a conference providing global context on the British Mandate in Palestine. Orosz’s expertise in French colonial Africa demonstrated that British and French colonial policies in the 1920s and 1930s were not that different.
