Weekly is the Burchfield Scholar (2016-present), Head of Collections (2001-present) and Charles Cary Rumsey Curator (1985-present) at the Burchfield Penney Art Center (BPAC) on the Buffalo State College campus. She has presented numerous lectures, tours, and exhibits at the museum and has published widely on regional art, and especially on the renowned American artist Charles E. Burchfield (see below).
In 2005, Weekly became a lecturer in museum studies and, in 2012, was named Burchfield Penney Instructor of Museum Studies. She participated in committee work for the new graduate program in museum studies and prepared new course materials for the program.
Weekly has received numerous awards and recognition, including a certificate of recognition from the President’s Council on Equity and Campus Diversity (2015-16), and a Brazilian travel grant from the Universidade Federal de Uberlándia, Brazil (2012).
Her work with museum studies students brings emerging museum professionals into the realm of curatorship, where they have opportunity to select and interpret works of art for exhibitions at the BPAC. A highly acclaimed and landmark exhibition featuring the work and life of John Edmondson Brent, Buffalo’s first African American architect, was co-curated with museum studies graduate student Christine A. Parker.
